These terms cover your use of TalkVoir and what you are buying when you subscribe. Like the privacy policy, this document is written to match what the app actually does — the two ways to pay genuinely behave differently, and this says so rather than describing an average of them.

Who we are
TalkVoir is a French-language learning app, available as a web app at
talkvoir.com and as an Android app
(com.talkvoir.app) on Google Play. In these terms “we” and “us” mean
TalkVoir, and “you” means the person using it.
What TalkVoir is
TalkVoir teaches French through practice: exercises, grammar lessons, pronunciation work, spoken conversation with an AI tutor, and progress tracking.
The free tier includes daily practice, guided practice, grammar lessons, themed units, pronunciation practice and the placement test. It is a usable course on its own and we intend to keep it that way.
TalkVoir Premium is the paid subscription. It unlocks spoken conversation with the AI tutor, the universal translator, real-world scenarios, a personalised learning path, the smart review schedule, progress insights and timeline, the weekly digest, and challenges and leagues.
We may add, change or withdraw features over time. If a change removes something substantial from the paid tier while you are subscribed, we will tell you in the app.
Your account
You need an account to use TalkVoir. You agree to give a real email address you control, to keep your password to yourself, and not to share your account with other people. Your display name is visible to other learners on the leaderboard; nothing else about you is.
TalkVoir is not for children under 13. If you are under 13, do not create an account.
What Premium costs
On Android, Google Play shows the price in your own currency, including any tax it collects — that figure, not the dollar figure, is what you pay. Paying in Nigerian naira through Paystack converts the dollar price at the rate current at the time, so the naira amount varies slightly between purchases.
How your subscription works
This is the section worth reading, because the two ways to buy are genuinely different.
If you subscribed on the web (PayPal or Paystack)
This is a one-time payment for a fixed period — 30 days for monthly, 365 days for yearly. It does not renew automatically. Nothing is stored to charge you again, and no further payment is taken unless you come back and buy another period yourself.
When your payment provider confirms the payment, our server verifies the amount actually captured against our own price list before granting anything, then activates Premium on the account belonging to the email that paid. This is normally complete within seconds. Access then runs until the end of the period you bought, after which the account returns to the free tier.
If you buy again while a period is still running, the new period is added to the end of the existing one rather than replacing it — you do not lose time you have paid for.
If you subscribed on Android through Google Play
This is a recurring subscription that renews automatically until you cancel it. Google takes each payment, tells us whether the subscription is currently valid, and we grant access on that basis. Google is the merchant for these purchases; we never see your payment details.
If a payment does not grant access
Occasionally a payment succeeds and the access does not appear — a browser tab closed mid-return, or a network failure at the wrong moment. The payment record is what counts, not our database. Email support@talkvoir.com from the address you paid with, quoting the PayPal, Paystack or Play order reference, and we will activate it. Please do not buy a second time to work around it.
Cancelling
Web purchases have nothing to cancel. They are one-off payments, so there is no recurring charge to stop. Access simply ends when the period you bought runs out.
Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled in the Play Store — Play Store → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → TalkVoir → Cancel. Only you can do this; we have no ability to cancel it for you. Cancelling stops future renewals and leaves your access running until the end of the period already paid for.
Deleting your TalkVoir account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it in the Play Store first, then delete the account. Otherwise Google keeps charging for an app you no longer have.
Refunds
We would rather refund someone who is unhappy than argue about a subscription that costs less than a coffee. Who refunds you, though, depends entirely on who took the money.
Payments made on the web (PayPal or Paystack)
We refund these in full, on request, within 14 days of the payment. Email support@talkvoir.com from the address you paid with, quoting the order reference or the date and amount. We do not require a reason.
We aim to process it within 5 business days; how long it then takes to reach you is your provider's timing, not ours — typically a few business days.
After 14 days we will still consider a refund, and we will always refund a payment that was taken twice, taken in error, or that never resulted in the access it paid for.
Payments made on Android through Google Play
We cannot refund these — only Google can, because Google took the payment, not us. Request it through Google Play or the Play Store app, where a self-service refund is usually available shortly after purchase and Google decides on later requests under its own refund policy.
If Google declines and you believe the charge was wrong, email us anyway and we will support your request with whatever record we hold. Note that when Google refunds or reverses a purchase it also revokes the entitlement, so access ends at that point.
Disputes and chargebacks
If you open a dispute or chargeback with your payment provider, we will honour whatever that provider decides. Please email us first — it is almost always faster than the dispute process for an amount this small.
Where refunds are not due
We do not refund because a period you bought has been used and has now expired, and we do not refund an account we have closed for the abuse described below.
What the AI tutor is, and what it is not
The conversation practice, translations, explanations and feedback are generated by AI language models. They are good enough to practise against, and they are sometimes wrong. Treat TalkVoir as practice, not as an authority: do not rely on it for translations that carry legal, medical, financial or safety consequences, and do not treat it as certified language instruction or as a qualification.
We do not guarantee any particular learning outcome, score, or level of fluency.
Using TalkVoir properly
Do not:
- resell, sublicense or share your access, or use one account for several people;
- attempt to obtain Premium without paying for it, including by tampering with payment requests, receipts or purchase tokens;
- use automated tools to scrape the app, generate bulk requests, or drive the AI features beyond ordinary personal practice;
- use the AI tutor to generate unlawful, abusive or harassing content, or to attack the service or anyone else's account;
- reverse-engineer or interfere with the app or its servers, or circumvent the free and paid boundary in any other way.
The app, its content, its exercise material and its name are ours. Your subscription is a personal licence to use them, not a transfer of ownership.
Suspension and closing accounts
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is used fraudulently, or where a payment turns out to be fraudulent or is reversed. Where it is fair to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we close your account for something you did not do, we will refund any unused paid period.
You can delete your own account at any time — Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent, and it does not refund an unused period or cancel a Play subscription. What deletion erases is described in the privacy policy.
Availability
We aim to keep TalkVoir running and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted. It depends on services we do not control — cloud hosting, authentication, speech-to-text and AI providers — and it needs an internet connection for anything the server does. Maintenance, provider outages and faults will occasionally interrupt it.
If a fault makes Premium unusable for a significant stretch, contact us and we will extend your paid period or refund it, whichever fits.
Our liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Beyond that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit or opportunity, or for any consequence of relying on AI-generated language content. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. TalkVoir is provided as it is, without warranties beyond those the law requires.
Changes to these terms and to prices
We may change these terms. The date at the top changes with them, and if a change matters to you — anything affecting price, refunds or what you get — we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
A price change never affects a period you have already paid for. For web purchases, the price you saw at checkout is the price of that period, and there is no renewal for a new price to apply to. For Google Play subscriptions, Google runs its own notice and consent process before any renewal at a new price.
Continuing to use TalkVoir after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you do not, stop using it, cancel any Play subscription, and contact us if a paid period is affected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer somewhere else, this does not take away rights your local law gives you that cannot be waived by agreement.
